Author’s note: This is in no way related to the English or Hindi version of the movies. I am reviewing the book, and the book only…
I, quite frankly, am not someone who is into sappy, romantic books. I’m the more dystopian fantasy reader. But trust me…this book…My God.
Basically, The Fault in our Stars follows the journey of two terminally ill teenagers, Hazel and Augustus, as they go to the Netherlands to visit their favorite author and the events that take place before and after it. This book is one of the best books I’ve read so far, and that is saying something.
Unlike the other ‘cancer’ books I’ve read, TFIOS actually humanizes the protagonists. It portrays them as people who live and feel, and go through hell, instead of the cliche ‘cancer warriors’. Every line, every statement in the book…makes you FEEL something. There are quotes so good in the book, that are so well written, that I had to stop and look at the wall for a second to actually comprehend it.
“That’s the thing about pain,” Augustus says in this masterpiece, “It demands to be felt.” This actually hit home. Instead of saying, “It’ll be all right”, the author says ”Pain demands to be felt”. Stuff happens, and there is no way we can avoid it. This is what I meant by the TRUE portrayal.
It’s one of those stories that will never leave your heart. As I read the book, I could feel Augustus’ cries, Hazels laughs, and everything in between. John Green has fascinated me. And even though I’ll be knocking outside his door in a few days to demand a sequel to the book, I still bow down to him.
From the first alphabet of the book to the last, it was amazing. The protagonists and their parents, the dorky best friend, everyone has played their parts to utter perfection.
Quoting the author himself, “Some infinities are bigger than other infinities…” I thank John Green for introducing me to one such infinite book called “The Fault in our Stars”.
P.S. I am so sorry for the delay on the Cinderella re-write. It’s coming up, but I had to publish something while that is being written.

I wanted to read this book since last 3 years but never got a chance.
Before watching the hindi version of it I wanted to read the book , so I read in online and finished it within 2days. (Haven’t seen the English version of film coz it’s mostly based in hospital)
I must say there were great quotes in it and I personally loved it coz people who know that they’re going to die are living their life to the fullest without complaining whereas we complain for little things everyday.

Well…it is a pretty amazing book. Every page, every point has something in it. It’s beautiful. And all these points…you know I’m literally speechless. And the end…
I love this review. Amazing, just like the book. Like it highlights all the points, all the ideas, all the truth.
Wow.

Well…no. Seeing as one of the protagonists dies in the end…I would not call it a “happy” ending per se. But yes, the book taught me (and all of us) a lot of things, and that is what matters.

I am so amazed by your writing. You are so thoughtful for your age. So so proud of you. My favorite quote is “You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world…but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.” As the author rightly said “some infinities are other infinities”, your talent my dear for sure is infinite. Ways to go!!
