It won’t always be like this.

You will have songs instead of screams.

You will hold roses instead of rubble.

You will hear laughter louder than the silence
that engulfs the world now.

You will understand that the lamps in the refugee camp
were not stars.
You will look up to the sky and see actual stars.

Later, you will find out that thousands of miles away,
the stars are burning.

You will want to run to the stars
t
o save them.
(You know why burning things need help.)

You will be angry at the world for not saving you.

You will find something worth going to war for.
You will realise nothing is worth going to war for.

You will stop wanting to be saved.

You will try to believe
t
hat there was a world before war
and that there will be one after.

You will ask,
Will there ever be an after?

You will create an after.
